In December 2020, we passed by a ghost town in Gilman, Colorado. It was the site of lead mining. Individuals were offered housing at half the price. A short time later, children were noted to have record levels when tested for lead. People became ill. The pollutants and chemicals found were numerous. In 1984, the EPA gave residents 72 hours to evacuate with no compensation. The families left within 12 hours. They left everything including cars, clothes, dishes, and food because it was all contaminated.
